Killeshandra Lakeland Holidays

December 11, 2008

The hospitability industry is very aware of the major down turn in the numbers of tourist visiting our areas over recent years. This has resulted in a loss of interest and a large loss of revenue to all businesses in Ireland. County Cavan been has been no exception to this trend. For decades we have built our business around the angling tourist as we are in the hearth of the lake lands of Ireland. Killeshandra is a small town in County Cavan with a lot to offer the tourist visiting this part of Ireland and we want to attract visitors back to our area, so what do we do?

The internet has become the first port of call for any potential tourist researching an area. It is therefore important to have a good quality website to entice the potential visitors to our area.
Killeshandra Lakeland Holidays Association is now in the process of creating a regularly updated website for Killeshandra and we hope to have it going live early in January. With this we hope to stimulate interest in Killeshandra and surrounding areas, and thus recouping lost revenue for all business in the area

I imagine other areas have experienced a similar downturn and what I am interested in finding out is:

• Have other local tourist association carried out similar projects?
• Scale of project?
• Level of support from local community?
• Level of success?

I would be interested networking with other groups and establishing links with the Killeshandra site when it goes live.
